On 19 August 2021, Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) published the Regulation Amending the Regulation on Certification and Support of the Renewable Energy Resources in the Official Gazette numbered 31573 (Regulation), thereby extending the deadline for application to the Renewable Energy Source Support Mechanism (YEKDEM).
What is new?
The Regulation introduced the following changes in relation to certain dates and deadlines envisaged under the renewable energy legislation:
- Application to YEKDEM: The deadline for application by legal entities holding renewable energy-based generation licences (Licensed Entities) to YEKDEM is extended by one month. Accordingly, applications to benefit from YEKDEM may now be submitted until November 30th of each year.
The deadline for submission of the documentation indicating those persons authorised to apply on behalf of Licensed Entities is also extended by one month until November 30th of each year.
- Withdrawal from YEKDEM: Mirroring the foregoing changes, the deadline for withdrawal from YEKDEM application is extended from October 31st to November 30th.
- Announcement of YEK Lists: In light of the foregoing extensions, the announcement date for the preliminary renewable energy sources list (YEK List) and finalisation of the YEK List are also pushed back by one month. Accordingly, the preliminary YEK List will be announced within the first ten calendar days of December and the YEK List will be finalised before December 31st of each year.
